Pumpole

Yondo kapa
Mi lóne luine
Ve pumpole,
Uilello amu
Lute máluhto.

A boy leaping
In the deep gulf of blue
Like a mer-bubble,
From the seaweed upwards
Swims with a pair of friends.

Zoltan Zelk: Nellapatti

I have decided to start publishing this translation, although I'm nowhere near finishing it. It proves tough, what can I say, but maybe I will get a boost if I see part of it appear on Aglardh.

This is a poem written for children, in Hungarian, by the poet Zoltan Zelk, one of my favourites from the past. I have always enjoyed it for its playfulness, rhythm, atmosphere. The first two stanzas are more or less ready, here they go - I will post the rest ongoing as I progress with the translation:

Nellapatti

Yalúme yá, yalúmesse,
haura, korna tauresse,
lapatti nelye hostaner

Cuiva, enda, sáma, fea

This is a Quenya translation of an Estonian hymn written by Aksel Kallas (1890-1922) and composed by Enn Võrk (1905-1962). You can read the melody here. Happy springtime!

1. Cuiva, enda, sáma, fea,
á lórello hríveo!
Coivienna vinya Ea
ortea et qualmeo!
Aire Fea elye yála
coi-hrestanna, minna cala,
i Yésusse almie
endan súya encie.

2. Áranen avánier sí
miste ausar nyéreva;
vinye lamyear nandelli,
ilqua yára vanwa ná.
Enda ná leryaina aqua,
unqua nyérion ná maqua.
Ancale orontie:
estel, raine, almie.

Tim naer

This is an older text of mine in Northern Sindarin, but since a lot some new information appeared about NS in PE17, I had to rework a great part of it and finally got to it. There was some interest regarding this dialect on this forum, so I'll just post it here.
Standard Sindarin iambic tetrameter:

Er gil min fanhoth tinta air,
Er tim hilimrin, timeg naer...
Atlanta celeb gīn trī fuin
Na falas lōmin, peithm a thuin.

Echuiant calad menel bhrand
In noeth nīn in echempin and.
Að renin orthad gīn mi ðūm
Am milbar nīn uin siðrin lūm.
