Here is another translation of an Emily Dickinson poem.

Linte larunyant i lassi - aner *asalasti -
I Tussar - anelte Nyeller -
La pollen hire aquapahtie
Kementário fairellon -

Felyasse cé mernen imni nurta
I rambar - *horonyer nyare -
*Eambar né ve taura cilya
Care ni *ascénima


To my quick ear the Leaves - conferred -
The Bushes - they were Bells -
I could not find a Privacy
From Nature's sentinels

In Cave if I presumed to hide
The Walls - begun to tell -
Creation seemed a mighty Crack -
To make me visible.

not an easy poem to translate... but nice.

Can you elaborate a little bit on the asa- prefix? (My PE17 copy is still not here...) Does it have a root? Does it exist only as a prefix or does it also have an independent form?

prefix, noun, verb...

Two roots are cited:

ATHA Q asya-, to ease, assist, comfort; asie, noun, "ease, comfort"; asea - name of plant - athelas; S athae, ath(a)elas; eitha-, to ease, assist. Q asa- (often as- before p,t,c,q,s) as in ascene, visible, easily seen, or ascénima; asalante, easily heard. S ath- as in athgar, easy (easy to do); athgen, easily seen.

btw, this _asalante_ is interesting, on first glance I took it to mean "fallible" rather than "easily heard" :)

Seeing this, I have been musing that

- whether the name _Rómestámo_ can be somehow related to ATH/ATHA (probably not, or maybe the root was different in another incarnation)
- "Frodo im Arwen, telin le thaed" should probably be modified to "Telin le eithad.":)
