Q. máma n. “sheep”

A word for “sheep” appearing in the Quendi and Eldar essay of 1959-60 as a derivative of ✶māmā (WJ/395). It appeared again in notes from 1968 as a derivative of ✶mbāba (VT47/35), apparently with some amount of assimilation since the second primitive b > m as suggested by Patrick Wynne (VT47/36).

New Browsable Google Plus Community Archive

I am very pleased to announce that Jakob Teuber (Gilruin) has kindly published a new, browsable archive of our old Google Plus community (that I still miss very much). You can access it at the following link: LOME archive.

Thank you, Gilruin!

By the way it's quite a nostalgia trip to read the posts again... the excitement of getting VT50 in the post...

ᴱQ. haru n. “grandfather”

A word for “grandfather” of unclear derivation appearing as ᴱQ. haru in both the Qenya Lexicon and Poetic and Mythological Words of Eldarissa of the 1910s (QL/39; PME/39). As there are no other alternatives, I would retain ᴺQ. haru for purposes of Neo-Quenya.

2.44 Brother

Q. háno n. “brother”

A word for “brother” coined by Tolkien in notes on Eldarin Hands, Fingers and Numerals from the late 1960s, based on the root √KHAN of the same meaning (VT47/14). It had a diminutive/affectionate variant hanno used as a play name for the middle finger in several places in these notes (VT47/12; VT48/6).
